What is it??

OK, this post is 10 days late....

The golf club at the end of my street has a fireworks show every year and I took a pic from my bedroom window. I thought it looked kinda like a palm tree.

Another low mileage year :-(

Well with this April's broken collarbone my miles are gona be down once again for 2006. I expect I'll ride about 13,500 miles this year. Besides the collarbone issue I cut my miles down in March for a little knee issue and just recently I had a couple low mileage weeks to allow my sore butt to recover from lumberjack.

A running total of my previous 31 days.

The Alien got me

I was showing Kelly my best cyclo-cross "jump back on the bike" technique Sunday afternoon when my U.S.E. Alien seatpost suddenly and somewhat painfully had a catastrophic failure. Hard to explain in words how the saddle broke off and I found myself nearly skewered by the Alien head. Luckily at the end of the event I only had a small laceration on my... well... I'm not really comfortable talking about that.

Boyne Marathon Weekend

Alex, Bill, and I made the trek up to Boyne Falls to race the Boyne Marathon. Weather was perfect. Mexican food for our Friday pre-race dinner in Boyne City (my favorite).

Friday's sunset (Boyne City).

Race was good and bad. A poor turnout (only 8 elite guys) was kind of a bummer but of course it made a top 10 finish pretty easy. The race distance got cut from 56 miles to 44 miles (another dissapointment). I ended up 2nd (52 seconds behind 1st). It's possible that missing 12 miles might have made the difference for me. I felt surprisinly great at the finish. Still it was a really fun course with some interesting new stuff in the lap.
